Srinagar/ 27-04-2024/ Amid prevailing inclement weather conditions in the region Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal today reviewed the agriculture scenario in Kashmir division. While addressing the officers of the department through virtual mode Director Agriculture reiterated the Department’s commitment to work for the welfare and wellbeing of farming community. He directed the concerned officers to ensure that the farmers are strictly following the advisories recently issued by the Department to manage different agriculture activities amid present weather scenario. He asked the officers to visit farmers and work in a coordinated manner to address the issues and demands raised by the farmers amid present weather scenario. The technical experts from the Department have been directed to devise strategies so that the farmers could coop up with the weather conditions in an effective manner, he said, and added. While talking about the vegetable seedling distribution by the Department, Director Agriculture said that the Department’s valley wide vegetable seedling distribution campaign will continue in coming days in a comprehensive manner. He said the response from the farming community and kitchen garden lovers is tremendous. He asked the concerned officers to ensure that the plant material reaches every corner of the valley well in time. Director Agriculture was apprised by the chief agriculture officers from different districts of the valley through virtual mode, about the agriculture scenario in the concerned areas and the interventions carried out by the Department. Director was informed that some short term and long term initiatives have been taken by the Department so that the farmer’s interests could be safeguarded.
