Ashok Koul Addresses BJP Public Convention, Holds Organisational Review Meeting in Anantnag

Anantnag, Feb 7: BJP General Secretary (Organisation) for Jammu and Kashmir, Ashok Koul, on Friday addressed a public convention in Anantnag, highlighting the party’s focus on development, governance and public welfare.
The convention, held at Municipal Park, Ashajpora Bypass, was also addressed by J&K BJP General Secretary Anwar Khan, District President Anantnag Rakesh Koul, programme in-charge Abaid Hussain Nengroo and senior party leader Sofi Yousuf, besides party workers and supporters.
Addressing the gathering, Koul criticised the National Conference-led government, alleging that it had failed to fulfil its promises. He said the Centre, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, continued to support the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Referring to disaster relief assistance, he said the Central Government had provided ₹1,430 crore to support families affected by natural calamities in the Union Territory.
Koul described the recent Union Budget as development-oriented and focused on youth, farmers, women and economically weaker sections, while strengthening infrastructure and economic growth. In contrast, he termed the Jammu and Kashmir budget as lacking a clear roadmap for development and employment.
Later, Koul, along with Anwar Khan, Sofi Yousuf and Rakesh Koul, chaired an organisational meeting at the BJP district office in Anantnag with district office bearers and constituency presidents to review ongoing programmes and future strategies.
During the meeting, Koul urged party workers to remain disciplined and committed to grassroots-level public service, stating that the party’s strength lies in its cadre-based structure. Anwar Khan said BJP workers play a key role in ensuring that the benefits of Central Government schemes reach eligible beneficiaries, while Rakesh Koul reaffirmed the district unit’s commitment to strengthening the organisation at the booth level.
