Srinagar, November 1, 2025:
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today inaugurated Amandeep BR Medicity, a 200-bedded multi-specialty hospital established in collaboration with Ujala Cygnus Healthcare, at Tengpora-Bemina Bypass in Srinagar. The newly inaugurated facility, equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and advanced medical technology, is set to provide high-quality healthcare services to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor emphasized the need for strong collaboration between the public and private sectors to further improve health outcomes and ensure access to quality medical care for all.
He highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Territory has witnessed remarkable progress in the health sector since 2020.
> “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we built new medical colleges, thousands of health and wellness centres, launched universal health insurance, and created a high-quality, affordable, and accessible healthcare system for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Around 90 percent of the population in the UT is now covered under universal health insurance of ₹5 lakh,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
LG Sinha noted that modern healthcare facilities, including new hospitals, an increased number of MBBS and nursing seats, and improved access to medical services in remote areas through thousands of health and wellness centres, have strengthened the healthcare ecosystem in the UT within a short span of time.
Calling for optimal utilisation of available resources, the Lieutenant Governor urged all stakeholders in the healthcare sector to serve patients with compassion, sensitivity, and dedication.
> “It is equally important to judiciously utilise the existing resources to meet the needs of patients and ensure that every individual receives timely and efficient medical care,” he remarked.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Sunil Sharma, Leader of Opposition in the J&K Legislative Assembly; Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi, Chairperson of the J&K Waqf Board; Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Secretary, Health and Medical Education; Dr. Amandeep Kaur, Founder Director, Amandeep Group of Hospitals; Nitin Nag, Managing Director and CEO, Ujala Cygnus Healthcare Services; members of Amandeep Group and Ujala Cygnus Healthcare Services; senior officials, doctors, and staff of the hospital.
