Air Force Schools Introduce Child Digital Safety Programme; 261 Teachers Certified as Cyber Crime First Responders , 42 Air Force Schools Enrolled in ScrollControl Initiative to Strengthen Online Protection of Students
New Delhi, November 2: In a significant step towards strengthening children's online safety, the Indian Air Force Educational and Cultural Society, under the aegis of Air Headquarters, has brought 42 Air Force Schools across the country under the ScrollControl Child Digital Safety Programme.
The initiative, implemented in collaboration with the Information Sharing and Analysis Center (ISAC) Foundation, aims to equip schools with the necessary expertise and resources to protect students from emerging cyber threats and online exploitation.
As part of the programme, 261 teachers from 42 Air Force Schools have successfully undergone a certification course to become Cyber Crime Intervention Officers, enabling them to act as first responders in cases involving online grooming, child exploitation, misuse of artificial intelligence, gaming-related risks and financial fraud.
The training also equips teachers with skills to preserve digital evidence and respond effectively to cyber-related incidents involving children.
The initiative assumes significance amid the growing use of high-speed internet, smartphones and social media platforms, which have increasingly exposed school-going children to unregulated digital environments, many of which are primarily designed for adult users.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has already directed its affiliated schools to incorporate cyber safety practices through the monthly observance of Cyber Jagrookta Diwas. The ScrollControl initiative will help Air Force Schools strengthen compliance with these guidelines by developing trained in-house cyber safety resources.
Under the programme, participating schools will be able to establish cyber clubs, provide cyber safety certification to students, organise awareness programmes for parents and staff, and access an age-appropriate content rating platform for families. The initiative will also facilitate recognition of participating institutions as Cyber Safe Schools.
The programme further provides for the certification and empanelment of trained teachers on the National Security Database, alongside round-the-clock assistance to victims through a multidisciplinary support network comprising cyber lawyers, cyber psychologists and forensic experts.
The initiative reflects the Indian Air Force's broader commitment to creating a safer digital environment for children through awareness, institutional preparedness and specialised cyber intervention mechanisms. ANB
