New Delhi, October 9: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting in New Delhi to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting was attended by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary, Director of Intelligence Bureau, Chief of Army Staff, Chief Secretary and Director General of Police of Jammu and Kashmir, Directors General of Central Armed Police Forces, and senior officers from the Army and the Government of India.
Reaffirming the Modi Government’s “unwavering commitment” to establishing a terrorism-free Jammu and Kashmir, Amit Shah said the persistent efforts of security agencies have “almost eliminated the terror network nurtured by the enemies of the nation.” He emphasized that the government would continue to extend all necessary support and resources to sustain peace in the region.
The Home Minister asserted that security forces will have “full freedom of action” to crush any attempt to disturb peace and stability. Appreciating the swift response and coordination shown by the Union Territory administration and security forces following the recent Pahalgam terror attack, Shah noted that these measures have helped further strengthen the overall security landscape.
Underscoring the need for close coordination and constant vigilance among all security agencies, Shah said such cooperation is crucial to completely eradicate terrorism from the Union Territory. He also directed the forces to remain on high alert with the onset of winter, cautioning that “terrorists may attempt to exploit snowfall conditions to infiltrate across the border.”
The Home Minister concluded by reiterating that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Centre remains steadfast in its resolve to ensure lasting peace, stability, and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir.
