Budgam, May 06: The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), J&K, Pandurang K Pole today reviewed preparations and arrangements in Budgam District for the ensuing Lok Sabha Elections-2024.
The CEO chaired a review meeting to take stock of all election related arrangements and readiness for election of Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency and Baramulla PC to be held on May- 13 and May- 20 respectively.
While reviewing overall arrangements, the CEO called for carrying out rigorous SVEEP campaign in all areas and mobilization of people through ground level functionaries to ensure maximum participation of people in elections.
At the outset, the CEO assessed creation of PWD, Pink, Green, Youth and unique polling stations facilities in different Assembly constituencies of the district.
He took detailed assessment of arrangements for welfare of polling staff and designated deployment, home voting arrangements and expenditure monitoring and emphasized for encouragement of locals for democratic strengthening through voting.
While reviewing status of Commissioning of EVMs, training of designated staff, the CEO emphasized on comprehensive hands-on training aimed at familiarizing the poll staff with the operation and maintenance of EVMs.
The CEO also asked the AROs to ensure proper uploading of data on EMS.
Stressing on enhancement of voter turnout, the CEO directed for wide publicity of election related activities including SVEEP awareness activities for encouragement of general public to vote and register highest voter turnout in the district.
While briefing the chair, the District Election Officer (DEO), Budgam, Akshay Labroo through a power point presentation , presented the district profile and overall arrangements for the smooth conduct of elections in the district.
The DEO assured that seamless arrangements have been put in place to ensure ensure free , fair and smooth conduct of elections in the district.
He said that all ECI guidelines are being implemented in letter and spirit in the district and all efforts have been made to ensure seamless & maximum participation of voters in the district.
The DEO also briefed the chair about the functioning of MCMC, monitoring all media platforms in double shift in the district, deployment of SST, FST, VVT and teams, arrangements for senior citizens, PWD voters in the district.
SSP Budgam, briefed the chair on overall security arrangements being put up for smooth conduct of elections in the district.
All AROs, Nodal Officers and other concerned officers also attended the meeting.
