Chrar-e-Sharief, Jan 6: Chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board,Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, Minister of State, on Tuesday inaugurated the newly constructed first floor and Examination Hall at Model Waqf School, Chrar-e-Sharief, during a function held at the school complex.
The infrastructure expansion project, which commenced last year, was completed within a short timeframe in accordance with approved standards. Senior Waqf Board officials and prominent local citizens attended the inauguration ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Andrabi highlighted the infrastructural developments undertaken by the Waqf Board in Chrar-e-Sharief over the past three years. She described the land of Sheikh Nooruddin Noorani (RA) as a major spiritual centre of Kashmir with deep significance in the country’s spiritual landscape.
The Waqf Board Chairperson announced that Smart Classes would soon be introduced in all Waqf Board educational institutions across the Union Territory, adding that the Board was the first to implement the National Education Policy in its institutions.
Referring to ongoing works at the shrine of Alamdar, Dr Andrabi said the large-scale transformation had received strong public endorsement and that infrastructure development initiatives were progressing at a rapid pace. She stated that 2026 would mark a historic phase of infrastructural growth for the Waqf Board across Jammu and Kashmir.
Later, Dr Andrabi paid obeisance at the shrine of Nund Reshi and reviewed the status of ongoing projects. Those present on the occasion included Haji Younis, Imam-o-Khateeb Molvi Ameer-ud-din, writer Inayat Gul, Regional Director MANNU Srinagar Dr Aijaz Ashraf, Executive Magistrate Ishtiyaq Mohiuddin, Executive Engineer Qazi Mushtaq Ahmad, and others.
