Indian Navy to Hold Second Commanders’ Conference 2026 in New Delhi , Three-Day Conference to Review Operational Preparedness, Maritime Security and Future Warfighting Capabilities
New Delhi, September 28: The Indian Navy’s second biannual Commanders’ Conference of 2026 is scheduled to be held from September 29 to October 1 at Nausena Bhawan in New Delhi, providing a platform for the Navy’s senior leadership to review operational preparedness and strategic priorities.
The three-day conference will bring together senior naval leadership, including operational and area commanders from across the country, for a comprehensive assessment of military-strategic preparedness. The forum will also facilitate interaction between senior naval commanders and senior government functionaries through an institutionalised mechanism.
The conference assumes significance amid continuing conflicts in West Asia and the evolving maritime security environment, with the Indian Navy expected to review measures aimed at safeguarding the country’s maritime interests, including security of energy supplies.
The Navy’s ongoing Operation Urja Suraksha will also form part of the broader operational context, highlighting its role in protecting India’s maritime interests and its engagement as a security partner in the Indian Ocean Region and beyond.
On the opening day, the Raksha Mantri will address the naval commanders and share his perspectives on national maritime security and expectations from the Indian Navy. The Chief of Defence Staff and the Chief of the Army Staff will also interact with the naval leadership, with the discussions aimed at strengthening tri-services jointness and integration.
During the subsequent sessions, the Chief of the Naval Staff, along with the Commanders-in-Chief, will review key areas including operations, materiel, logistics, human resources and training.
The conference will also deliberate on the induction and absorption of emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, Big Data Analytics, autonomous and uncrewed systems, and cyber operations. The discussions are expected to focus on strengthening technology-enabled capabilities and adopting advanced warfighting concepts.
The Navy’s apex leadership will further assess overall force preparedness, optimisation of force levels and measures to enhance combat readiness, guided by the three foundational pillars of JAI — Jointness, Aatmanirbharta and Innovation.
The deliberations are also aligned with the Government of India’s broader vision of Aatmanirbharta and Viksit Bharat 2047.
The Indian Navy continues to maintain a high operational tempo and remains focused on strengthening its capabilities as a combat-ready, credible, cohesive and future-ready force in service of the nation.
