LG Sinha Hands Over Appointment Letters to Over 3,200 J&K Police Constables, Calls for Unwavering Vigilance Against Terror
Jammu, May 20: ANB : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday handed over appointment letters to newly appointed constables of the Jammu & Kashmir Police and called upon the recruits to dedicate themselves to safeguarding the unity and integrity of the nation while strengthening the proud legacy of the police force.
Addressing the newly inducted personnel, the Lieutenant Governor stressed the need for constant vigilance in the face of evolving security challenges and changing patterns of terrorism.
“We must remain constantly alert and vigilant. The nature of law and order threats and terrorism has evolved, demanding constant and unyielding alertness against threats that often hide in plain sight,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor emphasized that the security challenges confronting Jammu and Kashmir require close coordination and teamwork among various agencies. He said effective information-sharing, joint planning and collective action are essential to counter terrorism and maintain peace.
He observed that while India has consistently upheld the values of peaceful coexistence and mutual goodwill, it continues to face threats from across the border in the form of terrorism. He urged the newly recruited constables to stand firmly on the front lines of national security with determination to eliminate terror threats.
Calling for a decisive fight against terrorism and its support structure, the Lieutenant Governor said terrorism survives through financial networks and logistical backing, which must be dismantled completely through strict legal action.
He further urged the police force to combine modern policing methods with traditional policing practices, particularly beat policing, which he described as highly effective in maintaining law and order.
“When a beat constable resolves that no crime will occur within his jurisdiction and that public land will not be encroached upon illegally, such commitment inevitably delivers results,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor reminded the recruits that they are inheritors of the rich and courageous legacy of the Jammu & Kashmir Police and urged them to uphold the force’s values of service, sacrifice and dedication.
“Every uniform of the Jammu & Kashmir Police reflects courage, commitment and a deep sense of purpose woven into the nation’s history. Each time you wear the uniform, remember that you are adding a new chapter to its proud legacy,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor also lauded the Jammu & Kashmir Police for its intensified crackdown on drug smuggling and narcotics trafficking under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir campaign.
He said the police have formulated a comprehensive strategy to choke drug trafficking routes and expressed confidence that stringent action in the coming days would lead to major successes in the fight against the drug menace.
More than 3,200 newly recruited constables were formally inducted into the Jammu & Kashmir Police force during the ceremony.
Among those present on the occasion were Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, Principal Secretary Home Chandraker Bharti, Special DG Coordination PHQ S.J.M. Gillani, Commandant General Home Guards Abdul Ghani Mir, Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor Mandeep K. Bhandari, senior police and civil administration officials, and family members of the newly recruited constables. ANB
