Jammu, 26 September 2025:
Senior BJP leader and MLA, Sham Lal Sharma, on Friday pressed for urgent restoration of public infrastructure in flood-affected areas of Jammu and adjoining districts, which were battered by incessant rains and cloudbursts earlier this month.
Interacting with public delegations during a Public Grievances Camp at BJP headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Sharma said the collapse of basic amenities even weeks after the disaster reflects the administration’s inefficiency. “The government has failed to devise an effective emergency plan, forcing lakhs of residents to suffer without even minimum required facilities,” he observed.
Delegations from Pandorian Mishriwala, Raipur Lower, Dansal, Akhnoor, Reasi, Hiranagar, Samba, Rajouri, Bhalwal, Nagrota, Talab Tillo, Roop Nagar and several other areas highlighted issues ranging from damaged roads and lack of connectivity to erratic power supply, dysfunctional transformers, handpump repairs, water scarcity, pending revenue matters, installation of streetlights and electric poles, drainage clearance and other local grievances.
Sharma criticized the NC government and concerned departments for what he termed a “slow and half-hearted response,” saying ordinary citizens continue to face compounded hardships due to the breakdown of water and electricity systems. “Such negligence has only worsened the plight of the flood-hit population. Accountability and urgent corrective measures are needed,” he asserted.
He assured people that BJP leaders and workers remain active on the ground to extend every possible support to the affected families. The camp, attended by a large number of deputations, was coordinated by Er. Dil Bahadur Jamwal, Party Incharge for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, who stressed prioritizing water scarcity issues through proactive measures.
