ACB Chargesheets Bandipora Postal Assistant in Rs 6,500 Bribery Case
Baramulla, October 19: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday filed a charge sheet against Mudasir Ahmad Najar, a Postal Assistant posted at the Sub Post Office Bandipora, for allegedly demanding and accepting ₹6,500 from a beneficiary in connection with the release of a subsidy under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP).
According to the ACB, the charge sheet was presented before the Court of Special Judge, Anti-Corruption, Baramulla, on October 19, 2026.
The case originated from a complaint alleging that Najar had demanded illegal gratification from a beneficiary who had secured financial assistance through the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Pampore, for establishing a business unit in Bandipora.
The complainant was awaiting the release of a subsidy of ₹1.75 lakh, subject to physical verification and geo-tagging by the concerned official. The ACB said the complaint was discreetly verified before FIR No. 05/2025 was registered at Police Station ACB Baramulla under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
During the investigation, Najar was allegedly caught red-handed while demanding and accepting ₹6,500 from the complainant, following which he was arrested, the bureau said.
The ACB stated that the investigation had been completed and the competent authority had granted the requisite sanction for prosecution after examining the evidence collected during the probe.
The charge sheet has now been submitted for trial and judicial determination. The allegations against Najar remain subject to adjudication by the court. ANB
