Budgam Police Identifies Accused in Galwanpora Minor Girl Murder Case After Completion of Legal Formalities

Budgam, May 26: Budgam Police on Tuesday disclosed the identity and particulars of the accused involved in the murder of a minor girl from Galwanpora village after completion of the necessary medico-legal, forensic and evidentiary procedures connected with the investigation. According to police, the disclosure was made in connection with FIR No. 139/2026 registered at Police Station Budgam. Authorities stated that the identity of the accused had not been revealed earlier as several crucial legal formalities and investigative procedures were underway at the initial stage of the probe. Police identified the accused as Mudasir Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Nabi Mir and resident of Galwanpora Sebdan, Budgam. Officials said the investigation conducted so far has established that no other individual was involved in the commission of the crime. Budgam Police appealed to the public to maintain peace, communal harmony and public order, and urged citizens not to take the law into their own hands or circulate rumours, speculative content or unverified allegations regarding the case. Police also advised media organisations and social media users to exercise responsibility and restraint while reporting or commenting on the matter, stating that circulation of misleading or unverified content could create unnecessary public anxiety and adversely affect law and order. Reiterating its warning against misinformation, Budgam Police said any attempt to spread rumours, incite unrest or disturb public order through any platform would be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law.
