Srinagar, Dec 6: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has formally written to the Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC), requesting consideration for the postponement of the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) Preliminary Examination 2025 due to ongoing travel disruptions and uncertainty over age-relaxation provisions.
According to the communication accessed by news agencies, the Chief Minister highlighted the “extraordinary situation” arising from severe airline disruptions, which have thrown the travel plans of aspirants into disarray. Numerous candidates are reportedly facing difficulties reaching their designated exam centres due to flight delays and cancellations.
Omar Abdullah also emphasized that the ongoing ambiguity regarding age relaxation, a provision historically extended multiple times, has added to candidates’ stress. The delay in finalizing the decision, he noted, has left aspirants anxious about their eligibility just days before the scheduled examination.
“In view of these circumstances, and in the interest of fairness, equity, and equal opportunity for all, I urge the Commission to take cognizance of the situation and consider postponing the forthcoming examination,” the Chief Minister stated in his letter addressed to the JKPSC Chairman.
He expressed confidence in the Commission’s judgment, adding that he is hopeful the JKPSC will take a compassionate and balanced decision in the larger public interest.
