COAS Visits ‘Operation Drishti’ Eye Camp at Tangdhar, Commends People-Centric Healthcare Initiative
Tangdhar, September 25: Chief of Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth on Friday visited the 10th edition of ‘Operation Drishti’, an Indian Army surgical eye camp being conducted at Tangdhar in Jammu and Kashmir, and interacted with the medical team, beneficiaries and veterans.
The initiative aims to provide specialised eye care to people living in remote and difficult-to-reach areas of Jammu and Kashmir, where access to advanced healthcare facilities remains a challenge.
Under Operation Drishti, more than 6,000 people have so far been screened, while over 400 surgeries have been undertaken for cataract, glaucoma and retinal ailments.
During his visit, the COAS appreciated the medical fraternity and the teams associated with the initiative for their efforts in extending specialised healthcare services to people in the region.
The initiative has received appreciation from residents of Tangdhar and adjoining areas, highlighting the Indian Army’s continued engagement with communities living in remote border regions.
The Army said its commitment extends beyond its operational responsibilities and includes supporting the well-being of people, particularly those residing in the country’s First Villages.
Reaffirming the spirit of ‘Jai Se Vijay’, the Indian Army said it remains “Mission Ready, People Centric” and committed to serving the nation. ANB
