DC Budgam Flags off Girls Trekking Camp to Pahalgam

BUDGAM, JANUARY 6: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Uddin Bhat, today flagged off a Girls’ Trekking Camp to the renowned tourist destination Pahalgam, at a function held at the DC Office Budgam.

The trekking camp, being organized by the District Administration Budgam in collaboration with the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Budgam, is held from January 06 to January 12, 2026, and will witness the participation of girls from all age groups across district budgam.

Addressing the participants on the occasion, the DC lauded the initiative and highlighted the transformative role of adventure-based activities in shaping confident, disciplined, and resilient youth. He emphasised that trekking and outdoor pursuits not only enhance physical endurance but also instill vital life skills such as teamwork, leadership, self-reliance, and mental toughness.

The DC stated that such camps provide a platform for young girls to step out of their comfort zones, explore their potential, and connect with nature. He underscored that exposure to the scenic and serene landscapes of Jammu and Kashmir helps inculcate environmental awareness and a deeper appreciation of the region’s natural heritage.

The DC further stressed that the District Administration is committed to ensuring inclusive participation of girls in sports and adventure activities, thereby empowering them socially and physically. He added that encouraging girls to participate in such initiatives is a step towards nurturing confident citizens who can contribute meaningfully to society.

He urged the participants to make the most of the opportunity by learning from the experience, supporting each other, and maintaining discipline throughout the camp. 

The DC also assured that all necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure the safety, security, and well-being of the participants during the entire duration of the trekking camp.

On the occasion, the DC Wished  the girls a safe, healthy, and memorable journey and expressed hope that the camp would leave a lasting positive impact and inspire more young girls to take up adventure sports and outdoor activities in the future.

The DC was briefed by DYSSO Budgam, Ghulam Hassan Lone, along with other concerned officers and officials, about the logistical, medical, and safety arrangements made for the smooth conduct of the camp.
