Development of Maa Sharda Temple at Teetwal Discussed with LG
Srinagar, October 7, 2026: Chairman of the Save Sharda Committee and President of the All India Kashmiri Samaj, Ravinder Pandita, called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday and discussed various issues concerning the development of the Maa Sharda Temple at Teetwal along the Line of Control in Kupwara district.
Pandita, who was accompanied by Mahaveer Thusoo, put forth matters related to the development and improvement of facilities at the temple, with particular focus on strengthening infrastructure for pilgrims and visitors.
During the meeting, discussions also covered the promotion of border and religious tourism in the area. The need for enhanced pilgrim facilities, including the establishment of a Yatri Niwas at Teetwal, was also highlighted.
Pandita informed the Lieutenant Governor that the Maa Sharda Temple has witnessed a significant rise in pilgrim footfall. According to him, the number of yatris visiting the temple has crossed the 10,000 mark this year.
The discussions focused on further improving pilgrim amenities and supporting the development of Teetwal as a destination for religious and border tourism. ANB
