The high-level meeting was attended by senior officers of the J&K Police, Army, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), intelligence agencies, Traffic Police, Railway Police and other security organisations, including senior commanders and officers from across Jammu and Kashmir.
During the meeting, participating officers presented a detailed assessment of the existing security arrangements, traffic management plans and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) aimed at ensuring the safe, secure and smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage.
The DGP directed all security agencies to maintain the highest level of operational preparedness and strengthen inter-agency coordination. He stressed the need for intensified area domination and night domination exercises, particularly along the National Highway, key road corridors and Yatra routes, while instructing field formations to enhance surveillance and maintain a close watch on anti-social and inimical elements to prevent any attempt to disturb peace.
Nalin Prabhat also instructed officers to ensure strict verification of pilgrims' identity credentials and effective utilisation of the RFID-based tracking system for real-time monitoring of registered yatris. He directed that issues concerning unregistered pilgrims be addressed proactively and sensitively in coordination with the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board, while ensuring that only duly registered pilgrims are allowed to undertake the Yatra in accordance with prescribed guidelines.
Reviewing disaster management preparedness, the DGP asked all agencies to keep contingency plans and adequate resources ready to respond effectively to weather-related emergencies, including timely evacuation, shelter, medical assistance and other essential support services. He also emphasised the need to ensure robust security and seamless assistance for both pilgrims and tourists across the Union Territory.
Highlighting the importance of professionalism and public service, the DGP directed officers to remain accessible, responsive and people-friendly, ensuring prompt assistance to every pilgrim whenever required.
Reaffirming the commitment of the J&K Police and all allied agencies, Nalin Prabhat expressed confidence that coordinated efforts, heightened vigilance and close synergy among all stakeholders would ensure the safe, peaceful and successful conduct of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026. ANB
