Srinagar, January 18, 2026: The Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board on Saturday organised a felicitation ceremony in Srinagar to honour the toppers of Board examinations from Waqf Board–run schools across the Kashmir division.
Chairperson of the Waqf Board, Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, felicitated 30 students who secured top positions in the recently declared Class 10 and Class 12 examinations conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE). She was accompanied by Board Member Syed Mohammad Hussain and Executive Magistrate Ishtiyaq Mohiuddin.
The event was attended by principals and administrators of various educational institutions run by the Waqf Board. On the occasion, a detailed development report of the Board’s education department was also presented. Dr Andrabi presented mementos and certificates of honour to the meritorious students.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi said the outstanding performance of Waqf schools in the Board examinations was the outcome of sustained reforms and major decisions taken in the education sector over the past three years. She said focused efforts were made to improve infrastructure, introduce accountability mechanisms and create a positive academic environment in Waqf educational institutions.
“Our teachers, management and students have worked with dedication, and these results reflect their collective hard work. We are proud of this achievement,” she said.
Dr Andrabi further stated that the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board was the first organisation in the Union Territory to implement the National Education Policy in its educational institutions. She noted that the reforms had led to a significant increase in student enrolment over the past three years.
“From a phase of financial distress to stability, Waqf schools have emerged as centres of excellence. We are committed to further upgrading these institutions and continuing reforms in the education sector,” she added.
