DRDO Successfully Flight-Tests ‘Pralay’ Quasi-Ballistic Missile, Induction Nears
New Delhi, November 5: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Wednesday successfully conducted the flight-test of its indigenously developed quasi-ballistic missile ‘Pralay’ from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the Odisha coast.
The missile was test-fired at around 11:10 AM on November 5, with all designated test objectives successfully achieved. The performance was confirmed through data recorded by various range instruments deployed by the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur.
The missile has been developed indigenously by Research Centre Imarat (RCI), Hyderabad, in collaboration with other DRDO laboratories. Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), one of the Development-cum-Production Partners, has manufactured the system.
The flight-test was conducted in the presence of senior DRDO officials, representatives of the defence industry and the Armed Forces as part of the user evaluation trials. Following the successful test, the induction of the missile system into the Armed Forces is expected to be imminent.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO, the Defence Forces and industry partners on the achievement, stating that the missile, equipped with advanced technologies, would further strengthen the country's technological capabilities and enhance the operational preparedness of the military against emerging threats.
Defence Secretary and Secretary, Department of Defence Research and Development, and DRDO Chairman Rajesh Kumar Singh also congratulated the teams involved in the successful flight-test. ANB
