IGP Kashmir chairs security review meeting at PCR Kashmir


April 18: The Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone Shri V K Birdi-IPS chaired a meeting at Police Control Room Kashmir to review the necessary security arrangements put in place for the smooth & successful conduct of upcoming elections.

The meeting was attended by officers of Police, Intelligence agencies, CRPF, SSB, ITBP, Army & BSF including JD IB Srinagar, IG BSF Ftr HQR Srinagar, DIG NKR Baramulla, DIG SSB Srinagar, DIG CKR Srinagar, DIG SKR Anantnag, DIGs of CRPF South Srinagar, North Srinagar, Ops Srinagar Sector & Ops Kashmir Sector, Col. GS (IS) 15 Corps, DC SB Srinagar, All District SSsP/PDs, SSP Srinagar, SSP PCR Kashmir, SSP Traffic City Srinagar, SSP Security Kashmir, SSP CID SBK /CIK, SP PC Srinagar and other officers.

The meeting delved into strategies aimed at safeguarding the safety and security of the general public while maintaining the integrity of the electoral process. IGP Kashmir directed the district heads to analyze & reassess the existing strategies to prevent any potential terror incidents. The meeting emphasized the importance of revisiting and reinforcing area domination strategies to address any gap areas.

Shri Birdi stressed the need to keep the bad elements and terrorist associates out of circulation & to neutralize their threats effectively. He further maintained strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including guidelines for movement of security personnel across the valley, to ensure operational efficiency and safety. He reiterated to ensure a secure environment for the movement of territorial officers and security personnel to ensure their safety.

Furthermore, the range DIGs were tasked to meticulously monitor respective areas to facilitate safe passage for Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) across districts. Coordination with counterpart DIGs of CAPFs for route planning was also discussed. Special emphasis was laid on intensifying cordon and search operations (CASOs) & generating actionable intelligence inputs, particularly in areas near highways, to counter potential threats. The officers were directed to establish high-level checkpoints at entry points to Srinagar and inter-district boundaries adjoining the city to enhance security measures.

The meeting concluded with a collective resolve so as to strengthen anti-terrorist operations and enhanced security measures to ensure peaceful and incident free elections.

June 10: Inspector General of Police Kashmir, Shri V K Birdi, chaired a security review meeting in the backdrop of upcoming festivals and SANJY-2024 at PCR Kashmir. The meeting was attended by Range DIsG, District SSsP & other senior officers of PCR Kashmir.

 During the meeting the district Police chiefs briefed the IGP Kashmir about the overall security scenario and the preparations put in place for upcoming events. SSP Ganderbal gave a detailed briefing regarding the upcoming Mela Kheer Bhawani and preparations for SANJY-2024.

During the session, the officers elaborated on the security arrangements meticulously planned for the Mela Kheer Bhawani, which in addition to District Ganderbal is scheduled to take place at various temples across the Kashmir Valley. Issues related to Law and order, crowd management, traffic control, ensuring the overall safety of the devotees was also discussed. The security arrangements for the peaceful observance of the upcoming Eid-Ul-Adha, was also discussed with all the participating officers.

IGP Kashmir directed the officers to maintain strict surveillance over the anti-social/anti-national elements using drones and CCTV’s and also establish round the clock naka/ cutoff points. He also reiterated the need to enhance anti-terrorist grid by generating specific intelligence and to intensify CASOs/anti-terrorist operations in all the districts.

The meeting concluded on the resolve to ensure peaceful conduct of all events.

IGP Kashmir Chairs Security Review Meeting at PCR Kashmir


December 24:Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, V.K. Birdi, IPS, today chaired a security review meeting at the Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir to assess preparedness for the peaceful celebration of upcoming events.
The meeting was attended by all Deputy Inspectors General of Police of the Kashmir Zone, DIG CRPF North and South Srinagar, DIG CID Kashmir, all district Senior Superintendents of Police of the Kashmir Zone, SSP PCR Kashmir, SSP Railways, and other senior officers.
At the outset, the IGP was briefed on the existing security arrangements and deployment plans. He directed officers to complete all preparations well in advance, strengthen checkpoints—particularly during night hours—and maintain heightened vigilance at vulnerable locations across the Valley.
Emphasizing the need for strict monitoring of elements posing threats to peace and security, the IGP stressed maintaining a high level of alertness and enhanced area domination within respective jurisdictions.
In view of the expected increase in tourist footfall ahead of New Year celebrations, the IGP directed the implementation of multi-layered security arrangements at key tourist destinations, including cable car terminals, forest tracks, crowded tourist spots and major access routes. He underscored the importance of coordinated patrolling, real-time intelligence sharing and continuous surveillance.
Considering the prevailing weather forecast, the IGP also instructed officers to ensure the operational readiness of personnel and equipment to effectively handle any weather-related contingencies and maintain uninterrupted security and public assistance. Security arrangements along highways, railway tracks and at railway stations across the Valley were also reviewed.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to heightened vigilance, improved coordination and effective implementation of security protocols to ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of all scheduled events.
