In a rapid and well-coordinated humanitarian effort, the Indian Army has dispatched a specialised contingent to Sri Lanka under Operation Sagar Bandhu, reaffirming India’s unwavering commitment to support the Sri Lankan people in their time of crisis. The contingent consists of dedicated medical, engineering, and signals units fully equipped to deliver immediate and sustained relief.

The medical component features Advanced Dressing Stations (ADS) and Mobile Surgical Teams (MST) with fully functional operation theatres capable of performing both major and minor surgeries. It also includes a facility capable of accommodating 20–30 patients simultaneously. The engineering teams are assisting in restoring essential infrastructure and services, while the signals detachment is working to maintain seamless communication throughout the relief operations.

India and Sri Lanka share a longstanding civilisational relationship built on friendship, cooperation, and mutual trust. Upholding this bond, the Indian Army remains steadfast in its commitment to support the people of Sri Lanka during this difficult time and will continue to extend all necessary assistance to help restore stability and normalcy.
