Srinagar, Dec 31: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti Corruption Bureau reported sustained action against corruption during 2025, with 78 FIRs registered and seven cases ending in conviction, leading to punishment of 13 accused persons.
Officials informed that the Bureau investigated 78 cases during the year. These included 36 trap cases involving bribe demands, 18 cases of disproportionate assets, 15 cases of abuse of official position, eight cases linked to a major land scam involving fraudulent alienation of custodian land, and one case related to illegal appointments. Charge sheets were filed in 43 cases before competent courts.
The Bureau, the officials said, also focused on preventive vigilance and systemic correction. During 2025, it conducted 703 verifications, including miscellaneous matters, and disposed of 764 cases, including pending matters from previous years. Based on these exercises, the ACB issued 41 alert notes and 91 advisories to the government to address procedural gaps and corruption prone areas.
District Vigilance Officers continued to act as the key link between departments, the public, and the Bureau. Over the past five years, they, as per officials, referred 15,197 matters, of which 12,406 were disposed of. In 2025 alone, 3,960 matters were disposed of, reflecting a disposal rate close to 90 percent.
During the year, the ACB carried out 18 new Joint Surprise Checks and concluded 19 such checks, including backlog cases. It also registered 25 preliminary enquiries, with 20 finalized within the year.
Public outreach remained a priority, as the Bureau organised two Vigilance Awareness Programmes in 2025, holding workshops and interactive sessions with citizens, students, and government employees to promote ethical conduct and encourage reporting of corruption through confidential mechanisms.
Capacity building of officers was strengthened through regular training programmes, expert lectures, and case study discussions. Planning has also begun for specialised training of newly inducted officers in coordination with the CBI and other agencies
