Srinagar, June 25 (ANB): In a vibrant display of environmental stewardship and community engagement, Khyber Cement hosted Lavender Day amid the blooming lavender fields surrounding its manufacturing unit. The event, now an annual feature, highlighted the company’s growing commitment to sustainable industrial practices that complement Kashmir’s natural beauty and community well-being.
This year’s edition of Lavender Day turned the lavender park—meticulously developed by Khyber Cement—into a hub of celebration and reflection. With a festive air permeating the scenic venue, students, villagers, and top officials from multiple departments came together to mark the occasion.
Prominent dignitaries in attendance included Mr. Abhijeet Joshi (SFS), Regional Director, J&K Pollution Control Committee (Kashmir); Mrs. Hameeda Akhtar (KAS), General Manager, District Industries Centre, Srinagar; and Mr. Fiaz Ahmad, District Officer, Pollution Control Committee, Srinagar. Senior officials from the Floriculture, Pollution Control, and Industries Departments also graced the occasion. according to the News Service Associated News Bureau ANB Speaking at the event, Riaz Tramboo, Director of Operations, Khyber Cement, stated, “Lavender Day is not just a celebration; it is a statement of our enduring responsibility toward ecological balance and community prosperity. Echoing similar sentiments, Umar Tramboo, Director of Corporate & Strategy, remarked, “This is more than a one-day event—it’s a lived philosophy. At Khyber Cement, we envision a Kashmir where industry strengthens nature rather than threatens it.”
A key highlight of the event was the demonstration of Khyber’s lavender oil extraction programme, symbolizing innovation rooted in sustainability.
