LG Sinha Calls for Kashmiri Pandit-Led Investment and Institutional Revival at Global Conclave in Srinagar

Srinagar, June 13: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday called upon members of the Kashmiri Pandit community from across the globe to play a leading role in Jammu and Kashmir’s economic, educational and cultural resurgence by establishing industries, academic institutions and cultural centres in the Union Territory. Addressing the Global Kashmiri Pandit Conclave in Srinagar, attended by prominent members of the Kashmiri Pandit diaspora from India and abroad, the Lieutenant Governor described the gathering as a significant milestone in the community’s journey of resilience, revival and return. Speaking at the event, Sinha said the conclave not only celebrated the achievements and perseverance of the Kashmiri Pandit community but also laid the groundwork for its dignified return to the Valley. “A moment of transformation is here. Those once uprooted from their homeland are returning, and this homecoming is the truest victory,” he said, adding that the participation of business leaders, entrepreneurs, corporate executives and cultural figures reflected growing confidence in peace, stability and development in Jammu and Kashmir. The Lieutenant Governor acknowledged the hardships endured by the Kashmiri Pandit community during the 1990s, describing their journey as one marked by displacement, struggle and resilience. He said the community transformed adversity into strength and went on to make significant contributions in diverse fields, including technology, finance, medicine, education, arts and public service. Highlighting the need for sustained engagement with the region, Sinha urged members of the diaspora to invest in industries and establish educational and cultural institutions that would preserve their heritage while creating opportunities for future generations. He said discussions held during the conclave on industrial development, institution-building and economic collaboration could serve as a roadmap for cultural revival, community restoration and economic empowerment. The Lieutenant Governor observed that the achievements of the Kashmiri Pandit community have earned global recognition and demonstrated the power of determination, perseverance and innovation. He said the community’s success stories continue to inspire future generations and contribute significantly to national development. Referring to the changing landscape of Jammu and Kashmir, Sinha said the return of members of the Kashmiri Pandit community reflects a new phase in the region’s development and reconstruction. He expressed confidence that their participation would play an important role in shaping the future of Jammu and Kashmir and contribute to the vision of a developed India. The conclave featured a series of interactive sessions during which distinguished speakers and prominent members of the Kashmiri Pandit community shared their experiences, achievements and perspectives on community revival and development. Among those present were Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, President of Kashmiri Overseas Association (KOA) Uphaar Kotru, International Coordinator of Global Kashmiri Pandit Diaspora (GKPD) Utpal Kaul, President of Kashmiri Pandit Association (Mumbai) Ashwani Bhat, President of All Minority Employees Association Kashmir (AMEAK) Sanjay Koul, social activist Autar Krishan Trakroo, President of Jammu Kashmir Vichar Manch Dileep Mattoo and President of Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj R.K. Bhat. Senior officers from the police and civil administration, prominent citizens, youth representatives and a large number of members of the Kashmiri Pandit community also attended the conclave.
