LG Sinha Pays Tribute to Rahi Masoom Raza, Calls for Unity, Inclusive Development and a Self-Reliant India

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 24: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday paid tribute to eminent litterateur Dr. Rahi Masoom Raza on the occasion of his birth centenary, highlighting his lasting contributions to Indian literature and cinema and calling for a collective commitment to national development, social harmony and cultural unity. In a message delivered at a commemorative programme organised in Ghazipur, Sinha said Raza’s writings reflected the cultural ethos of Ghazipur, Purvanchal and India, while conveying a universal message rooted in humanity, inclusivity and communal harmony. He noted that Raza’s celebrated works, including Aadha Gaon, Topi Shukla and Katra Bi Arzoo, along with his contribution to the screenplay of the television epic Mahabharat, underscored the idea that India’s culture, heritage and future belong to all its citizens. Emphasising the contemporary relevance of Raza’s literary vision, the Lieutenant Governor said India’s unity was rooted in constitutional values, shared traditions, brotherhood and the common aspirations and experiences of its people. He called upon citizens to strengthen social trust through dialogue, cooperation and compassion, while treating the country’s diversity as a source of collective strength. Sinha also urged young people to remain connected to their cultural roots while pursuing ambitious goals, stressing that they must transform opportunities into new possibilities through innovation, hard work and dedication. He said the younger generation had a responsibility to ensure that development and heritage progressed together. Highlighting the country’s development trajectory, the Lieutenant Governor said India had made significant strides in infrastructure, digital connectivity, financial inclusion, women’s empowerment, housing, sanitation and access to essential services under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. These initiatives, he said, had expanded opportunities and enhanced the dignity of ordinary citizens. Referring to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, Sinha stressed the need for active participation from every citizen and accelerated development across all regions to sustain India’s transformation. “Today, India is demonstrating its capability in many fields, from space to digital public infrastructure, and the world sees our country as a reliable partner,” he said, calling for a collective resolve to build a developed, prosperous, strong, self-reliant and technologically advanced India. Describing Raza’s birth centenary as an opportunity to shape the country’s future, Sinha said the nation must reaffirm its commitment to unity in diversity and strengthen social trust through dialogue, cooperation and compassion. He said Raza’s literary legacy continued to offer valuable lessons on cultural understanding, shared identity and the importance of preserving India’s pluralistic heritage while moving towards a progressive future.
