Lieutenant Governor Attends Kesar Art Circle’s Golden Jubilee Celebrations in Jammu


Jammu, January 12, 2026:
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday attended the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Kesar Art Circle at Kala Kendra, Jammu, and called upon artists, writers and cultural institutions to work collectively to transform Jammu and Kashmir into a global centre of art and creativity.
Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor said that building a vibrant art ecosystem rooted in the region’s spiritual and cultural heritage is a shared responsibility. He described art as a powerful bridge that connects diverse cultures and helps revive ancient traditions and values.
“From our spiritual and cultural roots to new creative horizons, it is our collective responsibility to reimagine Jammu and Kashmir as an art hub. I hope painters and writers will actively contribute to shaping the artistic future of the Union Territory,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor emphasised that the preservation of sacred heritage forms the foundation for a strong and meaningful future. He noted that art is not merely a form of entertainment but a dynamic force that shapes social thinking, inspires creativity and strengthens cultural identity.
Highlighting the role of artists as the conscience of society, the Lieutenant Governor said that painters, sculptors, writers and thinkers play a crucial role in inspiring public participation and contributing to the nation’s development journey. He added that art has always given voice to emotions beyond language and has promoted empathy and unity across societies.
During the event, the Lieutenant Governor felicitated Bhushan Kesar, renowned painter and founder of the Kesar Art Circle, and lauded his lifelong contribution to nurturing and mentoring thousands of artists who have achieved national and international recognition.
He also inaugurated a painting exhibition and honoured several artists for their contribution to the cultural landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.
Prominent personalities present on the occasion included Padma Shri Dr. S.P. Varma, Brij Mohan Sharma, Principal Secretary, Culture, Shruti Awasthi, Regional Director, IGNCA, K.K. Sidha, Director, Archives, Harvinder Kour, Secretary, JKAACL, Dr. Javaid Rahi, Secretary, Kala Kendra Jammu, along with senior officials, noted artists and members of the public.
