Jammu, 16 October 2025:
New stringent framework to overhaul India’s pharmaceutical regulation is a reflection of Modi Government’s zero-tolerance against spurious drugs stated Dr. Pardeep Mahotra, Media Incharge, J&K BJP.
Dr. Pardeep Mahotra has strongly lauded the decisive initiative of the Modi Government and Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda to bring stringent reforms in the pharmaceutical sector, terming it a “bold and much-needed action” to protect the health and lives of citizens.
He said that this is a lifesaving reform for India’s Pharma integrity, and is an uncompromising resolve to safeguard lives, restore faith in the health system, and reinforce India’s image as the world’s most trusted “Pharmacy of Humanity,
Dr. Pardeep said that bold and time-critical action will end the era of negligence and spurious manufacturing. He said that India, the “Pharmacy of the World,” cannot afford lapses that compromise safety, and this move shows the Modi Government’s unwavering resolve to ensure the highest standards of quality, transparency, and accountability in drug manufacturing and distribution.
Dr. Pardeep said that stringent measures are essential to regulate any spurious or contaminated products, as even a single case of negligence can lead to serious health hazards and loss of innocent lives. “When a patient consumes a medicine, there is a sacred trust between the patient, the healthcare provider, the pharmaceutical industry, and the government. Any breach in that trust is unacceptable,” he stated.
He hailed the Union Health Ministry’s proactive approach in introducing a new “Drugs, Medical Devices and Cosmetics Act 2025,” which aims to replace the outdated 1940 law. The new legislation will empower the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) with stronger statutory powers to enforce rigorous quality checks, surveillance, and swift action against substandard medicines.
Dr. Pardeep noted that the recent deaths of children in Madhya Pradesh due to tainted cough syrup have once again underscored the urgent need for stronger oversight. The Modi Government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Minister J.P. Nadda, has responded with swift, result-oriented action initiating inspections, cancelling errant licenses, and ensuring accountability from manufacturers to regulators.
“This reform is not just about law, it’s about restoring faith in India’s healthcare ecosystem. The Modi Government has once again demonstrated that human life and national credibility come first,” said Dr. Pardeep, adding that such bold governance ensures India’s march towards a safer, healthier, and globally trusted pharmaceutical future.
