BARAMULLA, MAY 04: In a celebration of the region’s rich literary and cultural tradition, the Baramulla Writers Forum hosted a mushaira at Dak Bungalow, Baramulla.
The event drew an impressive gathering of renowned poets, writers, students, and literature enthusiasts from across North Kashmir. Presided over by eminent literary figure Prof. Ghulam Hassan Baig, popularly known by his pen name Aftab, the mushaira showcased powerful poetic expressions from a host of celebrated voices including Fayaz Tilgami, Mushtaq Kirmani, Anzar Mohjoo, Nazir Talib, Showkat Habib, Bashrat Bukhari, Dr. Parvaiz Yousuf, Mrs. Lahaina, Dr. Riyaz Rabani, Abdul Rashid Bhat, and Bashir Zoogari.
Also gracing the event with their verses were poets such as Sagar Nazir, Ibni Shahbaz, Gul Mir, Abdul Ahad Aliham, Abdul Gafar, M. Sultan Mulani, Sadia Showkat, Sabir Mohiuddin, Tameel Bashir, Tahural Rehman, Muneeb Narwari, Rafaqat Hafeez, Mudasir, Rashid Kanispuri, Shabnam Vijpuri, Mufti Bashir, and Abdul Rehman Sayha.
The evening was marked by poignant recitations exploring themes of love, identity, social justice, and resilience—reflecting the depth and diversity of contemporary Kashmiri poetic thought.
Highlighting a growing literary interest among the youth, students from Government Degree College Baramulla actively participated in the event.
