NCB Jammu Seizes 385 Grams of Suspected Heroin in Digiana, One Arrested

Jammu, October 17: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Jammu Zonal Unit, has seized 385 grams of suspected heroin and arrested one person during an intelligence-led operation in the Digiana area of Jammu, officials said on Saturday. According to an official press release, the operation was conducted on October 16 following specific intelligence inputs regarding suspected heroin trafficking. Acting on the information, the NCB team kept surveillance in Digiana and intercepted a person, reportedly a resident of Miran Sahib, Jammu, who was allegedly attempting to deliver the contraband. During the operation, the NCB recovered four packets containing a total of 385 grams of suspected heroin. The accused was subsequently arrested, and further investigation has been initiated to establish the source and intended destination of the seized contraband. Preliminary investigations suggest possible links between Jammu-based drug traffickers and sources in Punjab. The seized substance is suspected to have been intended for distribution within Jammu district, the agency said. The NCB Jammu Zonal Unit is conducting further investigations to identify other individuals allegedly involved in the trafficking network and establish its forward and backward linkages, including possible inter-state connections. The agency said its investigation would focus on dismantling the wider network associated with the suspected drug trafficking operation rather than being limited to the seizure and arrest. Meanwhile, the NCB has appealed to citizens to support efforts against drug trafficking and substance abuse by sharing credible information through the National Narcotics Helpline, MANAS (1933). The agency stated that information could be provided confidentially. Reiterating its commitment to intelligence-led enforcement against drug trafficking, the NCB Jammu Zonal Unit said it would continue its efforts in support of the national mission of Nasha Mukt Bharat.
