Omar Abdullah Expands J&K Cabinet; Four Ministers Sworn In by LG Manoj Sinha at Lok Bhawan
Srinagar, October 27: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday administered the oath of office and secrecy to four newly inducted ministers in the Council of Ministers headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at Lok Bhawan in Srinagar.
The newly inducted ministers are Ali Mohammed Sagar, MLA from Khanyar; Shameema Firdous, MLA from Haba Kadal; Mir Saifullah, MLA from Trehgam; and Altaf Kaloo, MLA from Pahalgam.
The cabinet expansion marks the first major enlargement of the Omar Abdullah-led Council of Ministers since the government assumed office in October 2024.
With the induction of the four ministers, the Council of Ministers, including the Chief Minister, has reached its maximum permissible strength of nine members under the applicable framework governing Jammu and Kashmir.
The expansion is expected to be followed by the allocation of portfolios to the newly inducted ministers. Their responsibilities and the government's subsequent administrative decisions will determine the next phase of the expanded cabinet's functioning.
