Udhampur, November 18: MLA Udhampur East Ranbir Singh Pathania on Tuesday conducted inspections of multiple non-functional drinking water pumping stations at Jaganoo Morh, directing officials to restore regular water supply to several dependent villages within a week. The affected areas include Bredian, Thil, Roun-I, Roun-II, Sountha and nearby hamlets.
Accompanied by the Executive Engineer and AEE of the PHE (Civil and Mechanical wings), Pathania carried out on-spot assessments and instructed the concerned departments to ensure immediate repairs. He said that funds for permanent restoration would be arranged shortly and assured residents of a reliable and uninterrupted water supply. The MLA also reiterated that all Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) schemes must be completed without delay, either through restoration funds or gap funding where necessary.
Earlier, Pathania inaugurated a series of developmental works across the constituency, including macadamisation projects from Deot to Upper Bilaspur and similar road works at Mahalanga and Sundla. He noted that improving road connectivity is essential to ensuring efficient delivery of basic services such as drinking water and electricity.
Emphasising the principles of development, accessibility and transparency as the foundation of effective governance, Pathania urged officials to adhere to these values. He stressed that essential services, particularly drinking water, should never face prolonged disruption and called for timely repair and preventive maintenance measures.
Later in the day, the MLA visited District Hospital Udhampur to meet victims of the recent matador accident at Dhalpar. He directed hospital authorities to provide the best possible medical care and ensure prompt treatment for all injured persons.
Pathania was accompanied by Krishan Singh, Madan Singh, Purshotam Gupta, Ashish Sharma (Mandal Pradhan), Mohinder Sharma (Sarpanch) and several other local representatives.
