Rajya Sabha MP Khatana Condemns OIC’s Anti-India Resolutions, Accuses Pakistan of Misusing International Platforms

New Delhi: Rajya Sabha MP Er. Gulam Ali Khatana has strongly condemned the anti-India references in the resolutions adopted at the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers’ meeting held in Baghdad on October 17–18, 2026, accusing Pakistan of using the organisation to advance its political agenda and interfere in India’s internal affairs. In a statement, Khatana described the resolutions as politically motivated and asserted that Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are integral parts of India. He said no international forum or resolution influenced by Pakistan could alter India’s sovereignty or territorial integrity. The MP maintained that the OIC had no authority to intervene in matters falling within India’s sovereign jurisdiction and criticised the organisation for adopting what he termed a one-sided approach to issues concerning India. Highlighting developments in Jammu and Kashmir following the abrogation of Article 370, Khatana said the region had witnessed significant progress in infrastructure, connectivity, tourism and investment under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasised that the people of Jammu and Kashmir deserved peace, development, dignity and economic opportunities rather than being drawn into geopolitical disputes. Khatana also questioned Pakistan’s criticism of India on human rights, referring to reports of alleged repression and violence in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). He accused Islamabad of diverting attention from its own internal challenges by raising allegations against India at international forums. He asserted that Pakistan should withdraw from the areas of Jammu and Kashmir under its occupation and cease supporting cross-border terrorism, describing these as the principal outstanding issues requiring attention from the international community. Rejecting allegations of Islamophobia directed at India, Khatana said the country had a long-standing tradition of pluralism, coexistence and respect for different faiths. He argued that India’s constitutional framework and democratic institutions reflected its commitment to religious diversity, while accusing Pakistan of failing to adequately address minority persecution and sectarian violence. The MP also urged the OIC to reconsider its approach, warning that repeatedly adopting resolutions critical of India could undermine the organisation’s credibility and standing as an international body. He called upon OIC member states that support dialogue, peace and international cooperation to oppose what he described as the politicisation of the organisation and to press for a more balanced and responsible approach. Reaffirming India’s position on sovereignty and territorial integrity, Khatana said the country would not accept interference in its internal affairs. He urged the OIC to reject what he termed Pakistan-sponsored propaganda and demonstrate greater respect for the sovereignty of both member and non-member states. Khatana reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir remained an integral part of India and said no external pressure or international resolution could change the country’s position on the issue. ANB
