Run for Unity” Organised by J&K Police in Srinagar to Mark Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s Birth Anniversary


Srinagar, October 31:
The Jammu and Kashmir Police today organised a “Run for Unity” at Ghanta Ghar, Lal Chowk, Srinagar, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India.

The event was flagged off by ADGP Armed Shri Anand Jain, in presence of IGP Kashmir Shri V.K. Birdi, DIG CKR Shri Rajiv Pandey, and SSP Srinagar, along with other senior officers of District Srinagar. Bollywood actor Mukesh Rishi graced the occasion as the Special Guest, adding enthusiasm and star appeal to the event.

As part of the celebration, an Ekta (Unity) Pledge Ceremony was held, witnessing spirited participation from police officers and personnel across all ranks. The pledge was administered by senior and supervisory officers at all units and offices of District Police Srinagar, reaffirming their commitment to national integration and unity.

To further mark the occasion, a grand Plantation Drive was organised across all police units, including the District Police Headquarters, District Police Lines (DPL), Police Stations, and Police Posts. The drive aimed to promote environmental sustainability while symbolising harmony between humanity and nature. Over a hundred saplings of diverse species were planted during the event.

A Photo Exhibition was also held at DPL Srinagar, attracting enthusiastic participation from a large number of students from various schools. The exhibition was accompanied by a series of lectures on the life and contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, delivered by SP Headquarters Shri Shah Umar, DySP Headquarters Ms. Syed Sleet Shah, DySP DAR Shri Mohd Rafee, and other senior officers.

The programme began with a floral tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, followed by the Rashtriya Ekta Pledge, emphasising national unity and environmental protection. The participants also engaged in interactive sessions and awareness talks highlighting the importance of biodiversity, afforestation, and sustainable living.

Throughout the event, posters and banners carrying messages of unity and environmental preservation were displayed to inspire public participation and spread awareness. The celebration concluded on a positive note, reinforcing the values of national integration, environmental responsibility, and collective harmony.
