Srinagar, May 23: Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport, Youth Services & Sports, Information Technology, ARI & Trainings, Satish Sharma on Friday addressed NCC cadets and Associate NCC Officers (ANOs) at the Special National Integration Camp (SNIC) 2026 held at Badamibagh Cantonment in Srinagar, describing the youth as the strongest pillars of national unity, peace and progress. The camp, attended by nearly 340 NCC cadets from all 17 NCC Directorates across the country, brought together participants from diverse cultural, linguistic and geographical backgrounds to promote unity, discipline, leadership and national integration. Senior civil and military officials were also present on the occasion. The event began with a ceremonial Guard of Honour by NCC cadets, followed by cultural performances representing the traditions and heritage of various states and Union Territories. The programme highlighted the spirit of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” and underscored the role of youth in strengthening emotional and national integration. Addressing the gathering, Maj Gen Anupinder Bevli welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of the Special National Integration Camp in promoting cultural exchange, mutual understanding and lasting bonds among young people. He also acknowledged the support of Chinar Corps, 31 Sub Area and 216 Transit Camp in the successful conduct of the event. In his address, Satish Sharma said the National Cadet Corps has emerged as one of the country’s most influential youth organisations, playing a key role in shaping responsible, patriotic and socially conscious citizens. He said camps like SNIC provide young cadets with an opportunity to experience India’s cultural diversity while fostering brotherhood, unity and national pride. Describing the youth as ambassadors of peace and harmony, the Minister said they have a crucial role in building a strong, inclusive and progressive nation. Recalling his personal association with the armed forces as the son of a soldier, the Minister lauded the NCC for instilling discipline, leadership, dedication and selfless service among the younger generation. He urged cadets to remain committed to the ideals of integrity, discipline and social responsibility and encouraged them to actively participate in developmental and nation-building initiatives. He further stressed the importance of youth empowerment through sports, education, technology and skill development. Highlighting the growing challenge of drug abuse among youth, Satish Sharma called upon the cadets to become ambassadors against drugs and promote awareness about healthy lifestyles, fitness and constructive social engagement. He said the discipline and leadership qualities developed through NCC training could play a transformative role in steering society in a positive direction. The Minister also appreciated the “NCC Unity Run – Run with Pride, Run for India,” scheduled to be held at Nishat on May 24, stating that such initiatives strengthen fitness, unity and patriotic spirit among young people. During his interaction with the cadets, the Minister commended the enthusiasm and camaraderie displayed during the camp and praised the efforts of NCC authorities, Army personnel and organisers for providing participants meaningful exposure to the culture, heritage and scenic beauty of Jammu and Kashmir. The cadets expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended to them and reaffirmed their commitment to national service, discipline and unity. Several participants described the camp as a memorable experience that deepened their understanding of India’s cultural diversity and national spirit. The Special National Integration Camp 2026 continues to serve as a significant platform for cultural exchange, youth engagement and strengthening emotional and national integration across the country.
