Srinagar, Dec 7: In a continued effort to dismantle drug networks and their financial infrastructure, Srinagar Police on Sunday attached a double-storey residential house valued at approximately ₹1 crore in the Natipora area of the city.
According to officials, the property is registered in the name of Javid Ahmad Ganie, son of Nazir Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Astan Mohalla, Natipora. Ganie, described by police as a habitual drug peddler, is involved in FIR No. 23/2025 at Police Station Chanapora under Sections 8, 21, and 29 of the NDPS Act.
Investigators established that the house had been purchased using proceeds from illegal narcotics trade. Based on the evidence, the competent authority ordered the attachment of the property under Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
The attachment was carried out in the presence of the Executive Magistrate 1st Class, Chanapora, ensuring full adherence to legal procedures. The owner has been barred from selling, transferring, modifying or creating any third-party interest in the seized property.
Officials said the action is part of a broader strategy aimed at financially crippling drug networks by targeting assets derived from illicit trade, alongside prosecuting individuals involved in narcotics peddling.
Srinagar Police reaffirmed its commitment to combating drug trafficking and stated that strict action will continue against anyone found promoting, financing, or facilitating the narcotics trade in any form.
