Budgam, Oct 23: BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh on Thursday launched a scathing attack on Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, accusing him of betraying the trust of Budgam’s people and failing to fulfill promises made during previous elections.
Addressing a public rally in Budgam in support of BJP candidate Aga Syed Mohsin, Chugh said the people of the district still remember how Omar Abdullah “abandoned” them after winning from the constituency earlier. “He had promised to stay connected with Budgam, but once elected, he left it to its fate. He didn’t even return to thank the voters who ensured his victory,” Chugh remarked. “Such arrogance and detachment will now face a democratic answer. The BJP will respond through the ballot.”
Chugh alleged that the National Conference, under the Abdullah family, has turned Jammu and Kashmir into a “family estate.” “From Sheikh Abdullah to Farooq Abdullah to Omar Abdullah — every generation has ruled with betrayal, nepotism, and neglect. Now preparations are on to launch the next heir,” he said.
The BJP leader accused the Omar-led government of ignoring vital sectors such as tourism, employment, and infrastructure. “Not a single promise has been delivered. When asked about tourism, Omar Abdullah talks about Mumbai and Delhi — but has he ever sat with the people of Kashmir to hear their concerns?” Chugh asked.
He contrasted the CM’s record with that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying the Modi government has brought visible development to J&K. “Under Modi ji’s leadership, youth from J&K are excelling globally in sports, tourism is booming, and benefits are reaching every household without discrimination,” he said.
Appealing to the people to support BJP candidate Aga Syed Mohsin, Chugh said, “This election is not just about Budgam; it’s about ending dynastic misrule and empowering a new leadership that serves the people. The BJP stands for transparent governance, real development, and dignity for every citizen of Jammu and Kashmir.”
