Srinagar, July 15: ANB:In a devastating road accident in the Ponda area of Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district, the death toll has risen to five after two more victims succumbed to their injuries, officials confirmed on Tuesday. According to the News Service Associated News Bureau ANB That The tragic incident occurred when a tempo vehicle veered off the road and fell into a deep gorge, killing three people on the spot and injuring several others. Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Doda, Dr. Om Kumar, stated that the toll has now reached five, and more than a dozen individuals are currently receiving treatment for injuries, some of whom are reported to be in critical condition.
Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh (IAS), confirmed that immediate rescue efforts were launched by locals and police teams, who swiftly evacuated the injured to nearby medical facilities. He added that hospitals have been instructed to provide comprehensive care to the injured.
Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha expressed deep sorrow over the incident. In a condolence message, he stated, "Pained by the loss of lives due to tragic road accident in Doda. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families in this hour of grief. Praying for a speedy recovery of the injured."
Police have taken cognizance of the matter and initiated necessary legal proceedings. Investigations are underway to ascertain the cause of the accident.
