Two Held in Alleged Employment Fraud in Budgam; Police Recover Fake MHA Communication
Budgam, October 5: Police have arrested two persons in connection with an alleged employment fraud in Budgam, where several job aspirants were reportedly duped through fabricated appointment letters and promises of government employment, SSP Budgam Hariprasad K.K. said on Monday.
Addressing a press conference at Beerwah, the SSP identified the arrested persons as Advocate Jehangir Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar of Ratsun, Beerwah, and Firdous Nabi of Zabgul, Beerwah, chairman of the Jammu Kashmir People’s Front (JKPF). Both accused are currently being questioned at Police Station Beerwah following formal complaints, he said.
According to the SSP, the accused allegedly targeted job aspirants from various parts of Budgam by issuing fabricated appointment letters and making assurances of lucrative government employment. Police are examining the complaints and investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged fraud. The SSP said further arrests could not be ruled out as the investigation progresses.
A significant development in the case, the SSP said, was the recovery of an allegedly forged official communication carrying fake Ministry of Home Affairs stamps. The document was purportedly issued in the name of then Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan and addressed to J&K Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat.
Police said the fabricated communication purportedly directed the appointment of ten youths from different villages of Budgam as Special Police Officers (SPOs) in the J&K Police, allegedly on the directions of the Union Ministry.
So far, three FIRs have been registered in connection with the alleged fraud, including FIR Nos. 183 and 188 at Police Station Beerwah. A Zero FIR was also registered at Beerwah and subsequently transferred to Police Station Budgam, the SSP said.
The investigation is being conducted by a police team headed by SHO Beerwah Muddasir Nazir under the supervision of SSP Budgam Hariprasad K.K. Police said further legal action would be taken on the basis of the findings of the ongoing investigation.
