Veterans and Veer Naris Pay Tribute at Chinar Corps Ahead of 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas Celebrations

Srinagar, July 14: As part of the lead-up to the 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas commemorations, a delegation of military veterans and Veer Naris visited the Chinar Corps headquarters in Srinagar to pay homage to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives in the 1999 Kargil War. Organised by the Akhil Bhartiya Poorva Sainik Seva Parishad, the visit marks the beginning of a commemorative tour that will also cover Drass and Kargil, reaffirming the enduring spirit of patriotism and service among Armed Forces veterans. The delegation, led by Major General P. Vivekananda (Retd), arrived at Badami Bagh Cantonment on July 13. During the visit, the veterans and Veer Naris paid floral tributes at the Chinar War Memorial, visited the Ibadat-e-Shahadat Museum, and witnessed the rich cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir. The programme forms part of the nationwide observance of the 27th anniversary of India's victory in the Kargil War, with a series of commemorative events scheduled in Srinagar, Drass, and Kargil to honour the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment of the nation's Armed Forces. The event also underscored the significant role of ex-servicemen in promoting national integration and contributing to nation-building through continued engagement with society. It highlighted the enduring values of duty, honour, and patriotism embodied by veterans, reinforcing the ethos of "Naam, Namak aur Nishaan" and the enduring spirit of "Once a Soldier, Always a Soldier."
