Wellington, March 25, 2026: The 29th Infantry Centre Commandants’ Conference was held at the Madras Regimental Centre, Wellington on March 24 and 25 under the chairmanship of Lieutenant General Ajay Kumar, Director General of Infantry. The conference deliberated on key issues related to infantry modernisation, capability development and the integration of advanced technologies to enhance combat effectiveness in an evolving national and global security environment.
Discussions during the conference also centred on the upgradation of training infrastructure, promotion of AI-driven military solutions, and adoption of green energy initiatives. Emphasis was laid on domain-specific skill development to improve the employability and adaptability of soldiers in modern battlefields.
The participants reviewed the progress of operationalisation of the BHAIRAV Battalion and deliberated on measures aimed at the welfare of veterans, Veer Naris and Veer Matas.
The conference brought together leadership from Infantry Regimental Centres, Record Offices and representatives from the Integrated Headquarters of the Ministry of Defence (Army). It served as a platform to outline a comprehensive roadmap for building a technologically advanced, future-ready and AI-enabled infantry force.
