Amit Shah Chairs High-Level Security Review on J&K, Emphasises Push for Terror-Free Region


Jammu, Feb 6: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Friday chaired a high-level security review meeting on Jammu and Kashmir in Jammu, focusing on the overall security situation and ongoing counter-terrorism efforts in the Union Territory.
The meeting was attended by the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Union Home Secretary, Director of the Intelligence Bureau, Chief of Army Staff, Chief Secretary and Director General of Police of Jammu and Kashmir, heads of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and other senior officials.
During the meeting, the Home Minister commended security agencies for their efforts in dismantling the terror network in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that sustained and coordinated action had significantly weakened the terror infrastructure supported by elements inimical to the country.
Shah reiterated the Centre’s commitment to achieving a terror-free Jammu and Kashmir and reviewed measures aimed at further strengthening the security grid. Officials also discussed innovative steps to reinforce the existing security framework.
Highlighting the importance of social initiatives alongside security measures, the Home Minister said de-radicalisation programmes had shown encouraging results and called for additional steps to enhance youth engagement. He stressed the need for major initiatives to strengthen the start-up ecosystem and sports sector to provide young people with income-generating opportunities.
Shah directed all security agencies to maintain a high level of alertness and continue coordinated operations to consolidate recent gains. He assured that all necessary resources would be provided to support efforts aimed at ensuring long-term peace and stability in the region.
