Srinagar, March 26, 2026: In a significant कार्रवाई against drug trafficking, the Crime Branch, Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Kashmir, recovered 0.701 kilograms of heroin and arrested one आरोपी during a raid in the Barzulla area of Srinagar on Wednesday.
According to officials, acting on specific and credible intelligence, ANTF Kashmir received information that two alleged drug peddlers, identified as Iftikhar Ahmad and Hussain Khan, residents of North Kashmir, had illegally procured a consignment of contraband heroin. The accused had reportedly concealed the narcotics in a rented accommodation at Ganai Mohalla, Barzulla, and were planning to distribute the substance among local drug networks and youth in Srinagar district.
Following the input, a case under FIR No. 06/2026 was registered at Police Station ANTF Kashmir under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act and BNS, and investigation was initiated.
A police team, under the supervision of Dy SP ANTF Kashmir and overall supervision of SSP ANTF J&K, conducted a raid at the identified location in the presence of an Executive Magistrate, Chanapora. During the search operation, officials recovered heroin-like substance weighing 0.701 kilograms from the premises.
During the कार्रवाई, one accused, identified as Mohammad Hussain Khan, son of Kala Khan and a resident of Puthwari Nowgam, Handwara, was apprehended on the spot. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused, along with his associates, had sourced the contraband through illegal channels with the intent to distribute it among drug peddlers operating in Srinagar.
Officials said efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the absconding accused, and further arrests are expected soon.
The swift and professional action of ANTF Kashmir has been appreciated by the local public, with the operation dealing a significant setback to drug trafficking networks in the region.
Authorities have urged the general public to come forward with any information related to drug peddling activities, emphasizing that public cooperation is crucial in combating the growing menace of narcotics.
