BJP Leaders Pay Tributes to Maharaja Hari Singh on Birth Anniversary in Srinagar
SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 23: The Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday paid tributes to Maharaja Hari Singh on his birth anniversary at the party headquarters in Jawahar Nagar, Srinagar.
J&K BJP General Secretary (Organisation) Ashok Koul, J&K Waqf Board Chairperson Dr Darakhshan Andrabi, MLAs, Vice President Dr Shehnaz Ganie and senior party leaders offered floral tributes to the former ruler.
Addressing the gathering, Ashok Koul highlighted Maharaja Hari Singh’s contribution to Jammu and Kashmir, describing him as a ruler known for determination and progressive policies. He said the Maharaja’s approach to governance was guided by the principle of justice and that he worked for the welfare of people irrespective of their religious background.
Koul also referred to Maharaja Hari Singh’s statement, “Justice is my religion,” and said his legacy should be viewed in the context of the social and administrative reforms undertaken during his reign.
Dr Darakhshan Andrabi highlighted Maharaja Hari Singh’s role in the accession of the erstwhile princely state to India. She said the decision taken by the Maharaja had far-reaching consequences for the region and described it as a significant chapter in Jammu and Kashmir’s history.
MLAs Ranbir Singh Pathania and Devyani Singh Rana said Maharaja Hari Singh is remembered for his contributions to social reform and public welfare. They highlighted initiatives associated with education, social justice, rights of worship and local self-governance during his reign.
They said his governance philosophy emphasised justice and public service.
BJP State Secretaries Arif Raja and Mudasir Wani, State Spokespersons Altaf Thakur, Sahil Bashir and Manzoor Bhat, Media Incharge Advocate Sajid Yousuf Shah, Salinder Singh, Imtiyaz Bhat and other senior party leaders were present on the occasion.
