CBI Arrests Junior Assistant in Jammu for Allegedly Accepting Bribe Through QR Code

Jammu, May 25: The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Junior Assistant posted in the office of the Superintending Engineer, PHE Mechanical Urban Circle, Narwal, Jammu, in connection with an alleged bribery case. According to an official press release issued by the CBI, the case was registered on May 24 following a complaint alleging that the accused demanded a bribe of Rs 4,500 from the complainant for processing and clearing a pension case. The agency stated that the accused had allegedly shared a QR code through WhatsApp for receiving the bribe amount digitally. Acting on the complaint, the CBI laid a trap on May 24 and reportedly caught the accused while accepting the alleged bribe amount from the complainant through the QR code transaction. Subsequently, the accused Junior Assistant was arrested on May 25. Officials said further investigation into the matter is underway. The CBI said the action reflects its continued efforts to curb corruption and take strict action against corrupt public servants.
