Jammu, 16 November 2025: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday attended the Nagar Kirtan organised to mark the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur. He paid obeisance at Gurdwara Sant Mela Singh Dastkari Ashram in Digiana, Jammu.
Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor reflected on the life and sacrifice of the ninth Sikh Guru, noting his commitment to moral values, righteousness, dignity and religious freedom. Sinha described Guru Tegh Bahadur as an embodiment of sacrifice and universal brotherhood, urging people to reaffirm their commitment to peace and harmony.
He said Guru Tegh Bahadur brought a transformative social message that inspired selfless service and strengthened national resolve. The Lieutenant Governor added that the sacrifices of Sikh Gurus have helped preserve India’s cultural identity and dignity.
Sinha said India continues to stand strong despite centuries of invasions and economic exploitation, and called for collective determination to build a new and aspirational nation.
The Lieutenant Governor also commended the J&K Police for unearthing and dismantling a pan-India terror module, noting that their swift action prevented planned attacks and saved numerous lives.
He expressed deep grief over the accidental blast at Nowgam Police Station during the sampling of explosive material recovered from arrested suspects. Sinha said the incident, which claimed the lives of police personnel and officials, showed no indication of terrorist conspiracy or external interference. He extended condolences to the bereaved families.
The event was attended by community leaders, representatives of Sikh organisations, religious heads, devotees, legislators, senior police and civil administration officials, and prominent citizens.
