LG Orders Expedited Restoration of Shri Amarnathji Yatra Routes, Strengthens Pilgrim Safety Measures
ANB | Srinagar, July 25: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha on Saturday chaired a high-level review meeting with Camp Directors and senior officials to assess the ongoing repair and restoration of the Shri Amarnathji Yatra routes following recent heavy rainfall.
The meeting was attended by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg; Additional CEO, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, Rahul Singh; SSP Anantnag Amod Nagpure Ashok; SSP Srinagar Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy; Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat; Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo; Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Jatin Kishore; SSP Ganderbal Sudhanshu Dhama; Camp Directors; and senior officers from the civil administration, Police, Army, security forces, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, Border Roads Organisation (BRO), Health Department, Meteorological Department and other line departments.
Reviewing the condition of the pilgrimage routes, the Lieutenant Governor assessed the damage caused to tracks, safety railings and other critical infrastructure. He directed the executing agencies to accelerate restoration works, with priority accorded to vulnerable stretches prone to mudslides and shooting stones.
To enhance the safety of pilgrims, Shri Sinha ordered the deployment of additional Mountain Rescue Teams (MRTs) at vulnerable locations and instructed officials to ensure proactive dissemination of real-time weather updates to Yatris throughout the pilgrimage.
The Lieutenant Governor also directed all concerned departments to maintain uninterrupted essential services, including power supply, drinking water, communication networks and healthcare facilities, to ensure the smooth, safe and efficient conduct of the Shri Amarnathji Yatra-2026.
He stressed the importance of close coordination among all departments and agencies involved in the pilgrimage management to ensure that restoration efforts are completed promptly and that pilgrim safety remains the highest priority in the wake of the recent adverse weather conditions.
