“India will power the world’s next innovation wave,” said Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha while addressing the 16th Convocation of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
Highlighting India’s growing global stature in science and technology, the Lieutenant Governor said that the nation’s focus must be on translating scientific research and ideas into practical applications that drive sustainable economic growth and improve quality of life.
“It is a privilege to preside over the convocation of NIT Raipur, a premier institution nurturing bright minds and connecting academia with industry. Institutes like NIT Raipur are the backbone of India’s innovation ecosystem, turning ideas into action and advancing the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor emphasized the need for job creators and entrepreneurs, stating that innovation and enterprise are key to addressing pressing challenges such as climate change, healthcare, education, and technology. “Together, these roles are vital for making India self-reliant, globally competitive, and capable of inclusive and sustainable growth,” he added.
Encouraging the graduating students, Shri Sinha said, “Let your ideas not only build things but change lives. Every innovation begins with a question—so keep asking, keep exploring, and keep contributing to Bharat’s journey of progress.”
The Lieutenant Governor highlighted that advancements in machine learning, generative AI, and autonomous systems will soon transform every sphere of life, becoming major drivers of global economic growth and offering immense opportunities for young technology professionals.
“India has become the global hub for Global Capability Centers (GCCs), with 90% of them functioning as multi-functional units contributing to technology operations, product engineering, and R&D worldwide. By 2030, the number of GCCs will rise significantly, making them true powerhouses of innovation,” he noted.
Concluding his address, Shri Sinha shared Five Guiding Principles for students to build a successful and meaningful future:
1. Lifelong Learning: Keep upgrading your knowledge and skills to stay ahead in a rapidly changing technological landscape.
2. Problem-Solving: Focus on developing solutions that bring tangible and positive change to people’s lives.
3. Think Big, Think Innovatively: Be bold, embrace creativity, and learn from failures to achieve lasting success.
4. Collaboration: Recognize that teamwork and collective effort are the foundations of great achievements.
5. Adaptability: Be resilient and prepared for constant change in technologies, industries, and workplaces.
