Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, addressed the valedictory session of the five-day Orientation Programme at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu today. Marking the occasion, he also inaugurated the newly built Tejas Sports Complex on the campus, symbolising the institute's commitment to holistic student development.
In his keynote address, the Lieutenant Governor extended his congratulations and best wishes to the incoming batch of students and urged them to embrace their new journey with a sense of responsibility and purpose.
> “I wish to see the young and bright minds as business leaders and thinkers of tomorrow who will shape the economic progress of society and the future of this great country,” said LG Sinha.
“As we strive to make India a developed nation by 2047, we must ensure inclusive and sustainable prosperity for all.”
The Lieutenant Governor underscored the crucial role of future business leaders in driving India’s economic engine forward. He said it would be their responsibility to accelerate industrial growth, attract private investments, and foster a robust private sector that contributes to national stability.
> “Our business leaders of tomorrow must focus on transforming lives, ensuring inclusive growth, and leaving no one behind,” he emphasized.
Shri Sinha highlighted the transformation of Jammu & Kashmir into a hub of education and innovation under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He acknowledged IIM Jammu's significant contribution to the education ecosystem of the region.
Commending the institute’s growth, he noted that the newly inaugurated Tejas Sports Complex reflects IIM Jammu’s emphasis on all-round development and physical well-being of students.
He also elaborated on the essential skills that future leaders must acquire to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
> “The 5Cs—Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Communication, Creativity, and Curiosity—will equip you with the life skills needed to navigate the challenges of a dynamic global environment,” said the LG.
Touching upon the evolving business landscape, LG Sinha noted that technology is playing a transformative role and that students must learn to leverage innovation and management practices to enhance both ease of doing business and ease of living.
> “Your leadership and problem-solving abilities can offer fresh impetus to social development, and foster a local culture of entrepreneurship through sustainable business models,” he added.
This year, IIM Jammu has enrolled a total of 474 students across various academic programmes including MBA, MBA (Healthcare & Hospital Management), Ph.D., Ph.D. (Working Professionals), and Executive MBA.
Also present at the session were Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director of IIM Jammu; Shri Sudhir Langer, CEO & MD of RPSG FMCG; senior officials, heads of departments, faculty members, and the new batches of students.
