Poonch, May 12, ANB – In the aftermath of deadly cross-border shelling, Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah visited Poonch to console the families of those killed in the recent violence.
According to News Service, Associated News Bureau, ANB, Speaking to the media, Abdullah described the past few days as resembling a "war-like environment," emphasizing that Poonch had borne the brunt of the shelling.
“For 3–4 days, there was a war-like environment in J&K, and Poonch was the most affected by Pakistan shelling,” said Abdullah. “Thirteen precious lives were lost. My main purpose in coming here was to visit the homes of the victims,” he told
During his visit, Abdullah also met with local civil society members and lauded the people of Poonch for their resilience and commitment to peace.
“I thanked the people of Poonch for maintaining brotherhood even in such a difficult situation,” he stated.
He further added that the government had taken note of the suggestions provided by civil society to better prepare for future incidents.
“In the future, if such an incident occurs, we will act on these suggestions to minimize losses,” he assured. ANB
