Rotary Club of Kashmir President Briefs LG Sinha on Three-Point Social Agenda

Srinagar, August 18, 2026: President of the Rotary Club of Kashmir, Rtn. Dr. Touseef Bhatt, called on Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, on Tuesday and briefed him on the organisation’s three-point social agenda focused on drug de-addiction, environmental conservation and youth empowerment. During the meeting, Dr. Bhatt outlined the Club’s vision of undertaking sustainable community initiatives across Jammu & Kashmir, with particular emphasis on grassroots communities and the empowerment of young people. He also apprised the Lieutenant Governor of two major community projects being undertaken by the Rotary Club of Kashmir in collaboration with Rotary Clubs from different parts of the country. The initiatives include a Solar Village project at Machil in Kupwara, aimed at promoting clean energy and improving access to sustainable power solutions in the remote area, and an Artisan Empowerment project at Dub in Ganderbal, focused on strengthening traditional livelihoods, supporting local artisans and creating sustainable economic opportunities. Dr. Bhatt said the participation of Rotary Clubs from across the country reflected the organisation’s commitment to bringing together expertise, resources and community service for the benefit of people in Jammu & Kashmir. He further stated that the Rotary Club of Kashmir plans to extend similar initiatives to other underserved communities, while keeping environmental sustainability, social empowerment and youth participation at the centre of its future programmes. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha appreciated the initiatives and assured the Rotary Club of Kashmir of all possible support. He encouraged the organisation to continue its efforts towards social development, environmental protection and community empowerment. Dr. Bhatt expressed gratitude to the Lieutenant Governor for his encouragement and support and reiterated the Club’s commitment to the Rotary principle of “Service Above Self”, with a focus on contributing to a healthier, greener and more empowered Jammu & Kashmir.
